NDT Testing
Upon customer request, FOCAM is capable of providing NDT testing for castings. Focam employs external NDT technicians to assess material homogeneity for both internal and external purposes.
- UT Testing (Ultrasonic Testing): Ultrasonic testing is one of the most common non-destructive methods for material inspection. This method involves the passage of ultrasonic waves through the material. It is a non-destructive method that uses high-frequency sound waves to detect defects and measure the thickness of foundry products. Ultrasonic pulses or waves are created, which pass through the material and are reflected by any obstacles. These reflections are captured and converted into an electrical signal, which is then analyzed and measured. This method allows for material inspection and can detect both volumetric and planar defects.
- RT Testing (Radiographic Testing): Radiographic testing is primarily used for detecting internal volumetric defects in materials through the use of penetrating radiation.
- MT Testing (Magnetic Particle Testing): This method focuses on detecting surface defects in materials using a magnetic particle inspection technique. It is applicable to various types of magnetic and ferromagnetic materials. An alternative for visualizing surface defects is penetrant testing, which, however, does not reveal defects occurring directly below the material's surface.
- PT Testing (Dye Penetrant Testing):Similar to magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing is suitable for identifying surface defects such as cracks, inclusions, fissures, etc.
The aforementioned NDT methods, as well as other NDT testing methods, are utilized for both the foundry's quality control needs (internal casting inspection) and to meet customer requirements. Based on customer demands, we are also capable of providing a testing report for the performed examination. We make use of services provided by certified NDT technicians, particularly from weldinspect (www.weldinspect.cz).
